Hello — I'm Joe Brookes
I'm an MSc Artificial Intelligence expert, and I write courses for people who feel like this whole thing happened without them.

The short version: I spent a long time studying how this technology actually works, and then watched an enormous number of people be told about it very badly.
There's no shortage of AI advice online. Most of it is vague, or repetitive, or written by somebody who read three articles that morning and had a video to publish by lunchtime. Very little of it is written for the person who genuinely doesn't know where to start and feels slightly foolish about it.
That person is who I write for.
Why the courses read the way they do
I had a specific reader in mind when I started: someone who's been meaning to look into this for a year, who's nodded along in conversations, and who would quite like it if somebody just explained it properly without making them feel behind.
So the lessons are short. There's one idea at a time. There's no jargon, and where a technical thing genuinely matters, I explain it in plain words rather than pretending it doesn't exist. Every lesson asks you to actually go and do something, because reading about this is nearly useless — the whole skill is in the doing, and it's a much smaller skill than it looks.
I'm also honest about what it gets wrong, which a surprising amount of AI teaching isn't. It makes things up. It agrees with you when it shouldn't. It sounds exactly as confident when it's inventing a fact as when it's stating one. You need to know that on day one, not after it's cost you something.
Why the first course is free
Because you have no particular reason to trust me yet.
The free course isn't a trailer with the useful parts taken out. It's a complete thing — thirty minutes, four lessons, and by the end you're set up, you've used it properly, and you know the safety rules. Plenty of people will stop there, and that's a perfectly good outcome. I'd genuinely rather you got something useful for nothing than paid me for something that turned out not to suit you.
If you finish it and want to go further, the full course is £13.99. One payment, yours to keep. That's the whole business model — no subscription, no upsell ladder, no course that turns out to be an advert for a more expensive course.
What I'm not
I'm not an AI evangelist. I don't think this technology is going to transform your life, and I'd be suspicious of anyone who told you it would. I think it's a genuinely useful tool that will save you a few hours a week and take some things off your list — and that being able to use it confidently, and knowing when not to trust it, is worth half an hour of anybody's time.
That's the pitch. It's a modest one, and I think it's true.
Four rules I've stuck to
If a lesson needs a glossary, I've written it badly. No jargon, no assumed knowledge, no showing off.
Every lesson ends with something to actually go and do. Reading about this teaches you almost nothing.
What it gets wrong, what it stores, and where it will quietly mislead you. That's a whole module, not a footnote.
It won't revolutionise your life. It'll save you a few hours a week. I'd rather promise the smaller true thing.
£13.99, once. Not £300, not a subscription, not a "programme" with a sales call attached.
If you email, it's me who replies. Usually within a day or two.
Why not just watch a free video?
You can, and some of them are fine. But here's what I kept running into, and what I've tried to do differently.
Most AI content
- "Ten prompts that will change your life" — and none of them are for anything you actually do
- Assumes you already know the basics it never taught you
- Wildly overstates what the technology can do
- Skips the safety side, or reduces it to "don't share personal data"
- Written by someone who read about it last week
These courses
- Built around real tasks — a letter you don't understand, a message you've been avoiding
- Starts from genuinely nothing, including installing the app
- Honest about the limits, including the things it can't do at all
- A whole module on staying safe, written for people with something to lose
- Written by an MSc Artificial Intelligence expert
Judge it for yourself
The free course takes half an hour and asks nothing of you. That's a better guide to whether I'm any good at this than anything I could write on an about page.
